Westside Garage and Patio

This 1925 craftsman house in Santa Barbara, Ca needed its original detached garage to be replaced.  The single car garage has a covered patio attached creating an outdoor living room.  It features a fun outdoor shower, a seating and dining area and outdoor grill.  

Front Yard Landscape

After the Montecito Debris Flow, I thought of a way to use some of the excess rocks and boulders available in Santa Barbara.  Natural sandstone low wall provides a place for neighbors to sit and chat while out on their dog walks.  The drought-tolerant plants require only drip irrigation and replace a lawn and chain link fencing.  The long narrow driveway doubles as a bocce ball court.  The vertical plantings along the driveway is broken up with artful laser cut panels ensure that every space on this small lot is useable.  The landscape design was mine and Ashley Farrell Landscape Design installed for me.  It was awarded America's Best Front Yard by Better Homes and Gardens in October 2020.

Cottage Refresher Before & After

We improved the safety and access to the front porch from the driveway/sidewalk by removing an existing set of too steep steps.  The rear yard had even more harrowing steps that were replaced with gracious winding steps built into the slope. Editing the landscape trees was equally as important to the project as the addition of new water wise plants.  Interior paint and refurbished bathroom tiles made a remarkable comeback.

Montecito Proposed Remodel

This proposed remodel received its building permits days prior to the Thomas Fire and debris flow in Montecito. Although it wasn't affected by either, access to the site complicated the start date.  The permit was kept open in order to help sell the property.  Hopefully new owners will see it to fruition.

Goleta Ranch Remodel

This house was purchased for a flip and had not been remodeled since it was built in 1969.  A single-car garage was replaced with a Dining Room off of the new kitchen.  Walls were removed and replaced with large bi-folding doors to the exterior.  There was an elevated Entry and Kitchen which was removed to allow free-flow circulation throughout the house - indoor and out. A new outdoor shower off of the secondary bathroom allows for a pool bath escape.

Hope Ranch Garage, ADU, and Pool

This large property near Hope Ranch is ripe for development.  My clients remodeled the main house and asked me to add some great amenities to take it to the next level of resort-style living.

Lego Door: Decorating with Lego

Inspired by a trip to Legoland, I devised a simple, clean way to attach the minifigure to the baseplates in a perpendicular style without having to use glue.

West Side Bungalow

This Santa Barbara project won - 2019 Santa Barbara Beautiful Annual Award for Green Residential Home-Small Lot.
